In 2017 our farming operation Coulton Farming needed help with building a new automated silo complex on our property at North Star, NSW.
I was initially concerned about choosing Control Unlimited (CU) because of the magnitude of the project. With such a large financial outlay for the silos alone we really wanted to invest in superior technical automation to make the whole silo complex perform.
This included:
Tracking tonnage in and out of each silo
Control of each silo aeration from a single point and to monitor individual run times
Touch screens, single touch to start unload or load auger sequence
Safety overrides and fool proofing circuits
Remote access from my smartphone to monitor or control the system
Immediately after our first meeting I realised CU brought a lot of great ideas to the table. Control Unlimited took it upon themselves to liaise directly with the silo manufacturer ensuring nothing was missed and the best technology and equipment available was used.
The results that I got were first class! Without CU involved in the project I am positive things would have been missed and we would not have the leading edge facility we have today.
More specifically I valued how CU explained the different options available and were flexible on the project’s layout. Upon completion of the project, one aspect I really appreciate is the simplistic layout of the touch screens and control cabinets given the web of electrical circuits behind the scenes. Hence I have full confidence in any of our team members operating the system knowing that they are protected from operator error.
I would recommend Control Unlimited to anyone who wants to push the boundaries with automated controlling. Since engaging CU to fit out our silo complex we have subsequently used their expertise to automate our roller mill and irrigation bores. They are a team that acknowledge the benefit of technological advancement in agriculture and really let you take control.
